Viva: o ponto de encontro

Brand Identity

PROJECT OVERVIEW

This project was developed as part of a study abroad program in Portugal as a concept for repurposing a space in Videmonte, a small village. The project began as a group collaboration, where the logo and initial concept for the space were developed, and I later expanded it into a full visual system. It addresses the challenge of maintaining local traditions while encouraging community participation and attracting visitors, creating a space where residents and visitors come together to share skills and knowledge.

ABOUT

Viva centers on connection, participation, and shared experience. The name, meaning “alive” and used as a celebratory expression, reflects an active and growing community. The phrase o “ponto de encontro,” meaning “the meeting point,” defines the space as a place where locals and visitors come together to share skills, stories, and traditions.

SYSTEM TOUCHPOINTS

The visual system extends across touchpoints that support how the space functions and how people engage with it. It is designed to guide, inform, and encourage participation from both residents and visitors.

IMAGERY

Image style examples show how Viva appears in promotional content, highlighting points of connection through a star motif from the brand identity. These visuals would be used for social media and other promotional materials.

INSIDE SPACE & WORKSHOPS

A bulletin board displays a monthly schedule of activities, while a message area allows visitors and locals to share notes and connect. Within the space, a wall graphic combines illustrations, hand-drawn patterns, and quotes from local residents, creating a visual layer that reflects the character and voices of the village. Directional signage helps people navigate the space and find workshops and gathering areas.

GIFT SHOP & TAKEAWAYS

Workshops are supported through practical materials such as aprons, notebooks, and recipe cards, encouraging hands-on participation and engagement with local traditions. A small gift shop offers these items alongside locally inspired recipe cards for visitors to take home.
